Shields are regenerated when the boss is below 50% health.Shields now change color as they’re damaged.While I can’t do much about the level design, I did have some ideas for the final boss. Moreover, the final boss is a substantial disappointment, feeling undercooked and offering scant challenge.
I generally dislike the final level of the game (not the Body of the Many, I love that as well as the Rickenbacker), as revisiting the starting area from the first game has no gameplay worth mentioning and it feels like a massively missed opportunity to have a mind-bending level in cyberspace spanning multiple slices of Citadel Station. The focus of this update was improving the final boss of the game. System Shock 2 – Rebalanced Skills and Disciplines 1.07 Much more to come in the next month or so, if all goes according to plan. However, between the last devblog and the present I released a major update for SS2-RSD, two updates for SS2 Scary Monsters, and three new SS2 mini-mods for which I haven’t written any development updates, so I felt it was worth documenting the work that’s already completed thus far. Most of this article was written 6 months ago in anticipation of the 1.08 version of SS2-RSD, which became its own monster of an update with a long beta period and is still awaiting release and promotion, as I plan for it to be the final version (for now).
